Recently in the Lightning Class

September 16 - One week (!!!) until the 2025 North American Championship at Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Make sure to enter the North American’s 50-50 & Vakaros Raffles! Both are virtual & in-person. AND while you’re at it… log your hours & GET OUT THERE!

September 13-14 - 
SIX events in the Lightning Class took place 9/13-14 in the Lightning Class! Santiago Uzcategui, Jochen Raute, and Jorge H. took home first place in the Colombia District Championship with 16 points. Finishing in seocnd, with 17 points were Julian Ramirez and Adriana R. Check out more results from the weekend here

Join in the Moment of Victory as Ken Brown nears a key milestone in the G.O.T. Flashes Challenge

September 8 -
It’s going to be a fun month for the Lightning Class! September started off with the Whitecap Regatta at Pontiac Yacht Club where 75 sailors (25 boats) were on the starting line! Team “Atom” consisting of  Jim Allen, Jane Allen, and Tyler Allen took first with 13 points, Kevin Morin (& team) finished in second with 17 points. Team “Lunch Meat” all the way from Carolina Yacht Club, Scott Harris, Jim Harris, and Rachel Smith finished third with 19 points. What an awesome way for Lightning sailors to kick off fall sailing! 

September 1- The 2025 Chilean National Results was held in Algarrobo, Chile where current World Champion Felipe Robles alongside Andreas Guevara, and Paula Herman finished first with 8 points. Team El Doctorado won 5/6 races. Cristobal Perez, Emunddo Perez, and Amelia Zulueta finished in second place with 18 points. Benjamin Fuenzalida, Marcos Fuentes, and Diago Natho finished third, with 29 points. Fantastic turn out with 15 Lightnings on the water!

August 18 - North American Championship NOR Amended to allow for Vakaros RaceSense Technology. See Clubspot NAs Page for more information. Also a MERCHANDISE Link has been added to the Clubspot Page. PRE-ORDERS are due by September 15th for pickup at NAs.


August 15 - 8 Bells... 
with a heavy heart we share the passing of Edwin "Eddie Adams from the Southern District and Fleet 135 - Mobile Bay.

August 8-11 - Three fleets totaling 43 boats gathered at the beautiful Larchmont Yacht Club for the 2025 Women’s, Juniors and Masters’ North American Championships. Competitors ranged from 12 years to 85 years old. With light to medium winds over the three days of racing, there were both opportunities and challenges for all! Full results & On the Water Photos by Art Petrosemolo
