LOYALS Volunteer Group

Join the LOYALS – a great way to give back to the Class in ways uniquely suited to your individual strengths and interests!

Who are LOYALS? We are a Legion Of Young-at-heart Avid Lightning Sailors. Who can join LOYALS? Anyone with a little time to volunteer for a variety of projects ranging from simple to complex. What are our objectives? To strengthen the Class, increase participation, work on projects prioritized by the Executive Committee and engage volunteers to proactively propose new ideas.

There are many opportunities to support this vibrant Class of ours, and there’s something for everyone – whether you have just an hour a month to volunteer, or are interested in a longer-term project. If you’d like to join our volunteer group, work on one of the projects listed below, or you have questions or ideas, you can email us at loyals@lightningclass.org, or call Bertie Werley (412-439-4543). Thanks to the efforts of super-volunteer Bob Astrove, we now have a “self-service” Volunteer Appreciation Award that anyone can award. Is there someone in your fleet that deserves a special recognition? Someone working a regatta that should be acknowledged with more than a thank-you? Now’s your chance!

Anyone can complete the easy-to-navigate form. Click on the image (left) for form link. The designated recipient will receive a personalized pdf suitable for printing and framing, and the person completing the form will also receive a copy. It’s an easy way to say Thank You for helping with fleet, district or other Class activities and events!
