Ryan Davidson graduated from College of Charleston in 2016. After focusing on starting a career in Charleston, he is looking to get back into competitive sailing. He grew up in Southern California, sailing sabots.
His team will primarily be comprised of himself (helm) and Stefan Kuehn (Trim). They have numerous people in mind for the third position and would like to invite different competitors to sail with them to introduce more people the boat and class.
Davidson’s resume includes: 2017 Rolex Big Boat Series, 2016 J/70 Worlds, 2015/2016 Charleston Race Week. He has worked at Ullman Sails Newport Beach in California. He has given back to the College of Charleston Sailing Program by being the PRO at many regattas, including all of the 2017 College Nationals (Women’s, Team, and Coed) and 2017 College Match Race Nationals. He is an active member on US Sailing’s Match Race Championships committee, focusing on the youth championships.
Stefan was a team captain on the College of Charleston Varsity Sailing team alongside Davidson during their senior year of 2015-2016. Now, Stefan spends much of his time giving back to College of Charleston as well. He sailed on the offshore team competing on boats like Melges 30s, Navy 44s, Catalina 36s, etc. In his junior year the team won the 2015 Kennedy Cup at the Naval Academy which is deemed the Collegiate Keelboat National Championship (secondary trim). He was also part of the winning team his senior year at the LA Harbor Cup in 2016 where he was then primary trimmer. Stefan has sailed in the Lightning class a few times in Charleston at the CYC open and the Wild Oyster. He loves the Class and is excited to potentially have a bigger future within the fleet.
