The G.O.T.-Flashes challenge has now recorded 1,482 days sailing in a Lightning for 2025, and grows by a hundred or more each week. The fall regatta schedule is in full swing across North America, and the season is just beginning South of the equator – it’s beginning to look like we could hit the 2,000 mark or more before the end of the year!

Remember, if you have neglected to log your time but know when you were sailing, it is OK to enter time you might have missed. If you are not sure what is in our database so far, send me an email at wcabrall@msn.com and I will be happy to reply with the dates that are already entered.

Also, as we get into fall and winter in North America, the time approaches to start making updates and improvements to the G.O.T-Flashes Challenge program for the 2026 season. If you have ideas on how to make things even better, email me with your suggestions.

Looking at the Leaderboards today, I noticed that I have fallen off the Top 15, overtaken by VP of Classic Boats Bob Astrove. I know that his fleet sails all fall on Sundays on the Potomac River in Washington D.C., while our racing season here in Annapolis concluded with the Frigid Digit Regatta. What to do! Luckily, Ken Brown has blazed a trail for people like me. Checking the weather, this weekend looks great for recreational sailing, and the fall Boat Show is in town. Clearly, it’s time to show the flag, launch the boat, and parade our beloved boat up and down across the front of city dock. Better yet, perhaps an ad hoc regatta through the mooring field! Stay tuned for tons of sailing fun. Look out Bob, I’m after your leaderboard spot!
