LOYALS Volunteer Group

As part of National Volunteer Week, the LOYALS launched a “self-service” Volunteer Appreciation Award that anyone can award. Is there someone in your fleet that deserves a special recognition? Someone working a regatta that should be acknowledged with more than a thank-you? Now’s your chance!

Simply go to Volunteer Recognition Form and complete the easy-to-navigate form. The designated recipient will receive a personalized pdf suitable for printing and framing, and the person completing the form will also receive a copy. It’s an easy way to say "Thank You" for helping with fleet, district or other Class activities and events!

We’re pleased to highlight those that received an award following the initial launch:

• Anne Allen, Buffalo Canoe Club: Anne Allen has been running the Tuesday night lightning races at the Buffalo Canoe Club for years!!!! At least 20-25!!! She is the PRO and is always the best!!!
• Mark Schneider, Riverton Yacht Club: Mark is the reason I own a Lightning. He is constantly advocating for folks to give the Lightning a try, he with Alan Crew and Hugh Hutchison started the fleet some 50? years ago at Riverton YC.
• Gustavo Tamayo Arango, Club Nautico El Portillo: We want to thank Gustavo Tamayo for his commitment, support, and passion for the Lightning Colombia Class. He inspires and helps our community grow. Thank you for representing Colombia with pride!
• Maria Claudia Vargas, Club Nautico El Portillo: We would like to thank María Claudia Vargas for her unwavering willingness to serve as Race Officer at the championships and monthly regattas of the Lightning Class Colombia. Her commitment is invaluable.
• Peter Bright, Club Nautico El Portillo: We would like to thank Pedro Bright for his constant support in creating the calendar and organizing the events for the Lightning Colombia Class. His commitment has been fundamental.
• Bev Boyle, Pymatuning Yacht Club: Thank you for your early morning efforts year after year in providing breakfasts with a smile at the Pymatuning Spring Classic - you are truly appreciated!
• Jan Gamer, Pymatuning Yacht Club: Thank you for your early morning efforts year after year in providing breakfasts with a smile at the Pymatuning Spring Classic - you are truly appreciated!
