Howard L. “Les” Hathaway III crossed the bar March 8, 2025 after a long and valiant struggle. He recently turned 78. Les was a friend to all and an ambassador for the Monmouth Boat Club, sailing, and good times. Les was a lifelong member of MBC and a sailor of Lightnings (Fleet 70), WoodPussys, Sanderlings, and beyond. Most recently, Les served as First Rear Commodore with great aplomb. Always quick with a hearty laugh and kind word, Les was beloved by all. He will be missed.
When we receive details concerning memorial arrangements, we will pass them on.
Les sailed and help run many Long John Regatta's at MBC.
