News from the President - David Starck
A New Challenge... WJM NAs....

We are less than 1 month away from the 2025 WJM NA's being held at Larchmont Yacht Club. LYC is a beautiful club with tons of amenities, pool, etc. and the organizers are opening it all up to the Lightning Fleet. Larchmont YC is well known for knowing how to do it right (see recent Scuttlebutt Article). Lots of fun parties are planned.

PLEASE sign up and register today, like RIGHT NOW...the late fee kicks in on July 20. Here is the Clubspot Link with NOR, On-Line Registration, etc.

OK Here is my challenge: You still have time: Encourage 3 Teams (1 Junior, 1 Women, 1 Master) to register for the event from your fleet or club! GO!!!!!!! Need help with boats, accommodations, crew - anything else? Just ask me and I will help.

Each year at the WJM's special memories are made.
This year will prove to be another fabulous regatta!
We look forward to great racing with PRO Jeff Borland and memorable activities after racing, including a great Luau and Tiki Party with a great band Twist of Fate on Saturday night, and a festive Regatta Dinner Sunday night.
We hope you can enjoy a great visit to the waters of Western Long Island Sound, only 15 miles from NYC.  Friends and family looking to come as well?  Plenty of local attractions and activities for friends and family not competing. So much to do on and off the water!

There is a list of local hotel accommodations in the NOR, and we will attempt to find housing for competitors if possible (but will be limited) - but will guarantee housing for all Junior competitors.

There will be plenty of great food, music and fun on and off the water.

There is so much to do locally as well - we are only 15 miles from Manhattan, Rye Playland is a local amusement park like Crystal Beach was at BCC with tons of rides, the Yankees have a four game homestand that weekend vs. the Astros (look for a possible bus trip to the Yankees game...) So much to do!

So don't hesitate - Register today via ClubSpot

Any questions, or if you need help with anything, reach out to Dorsey or Ned Roseberry

GOT Flashes
July 15 Leaderboard
The LOYALS are sponsoring a challenge:

G.O.T. Flashes (Get Out There).

You earn recognition for the number of days you sail a Lightning. NOT just skippers or racing – crewing, daysailing, practicing – basically any day you get out there and sail a Lightning counts.

Click on GOT-Flashes Challenge Log to access an easy-to-use log. The LOYALS will track and automatically send recognition stickers when you hit 10 days, 25 days and 50 days. Use it as a fleet builder, and to engage your fellow sailors to GET OUT THERE! Challenge your fleet members, or other fleets, to join you/beat you on the Leader Board, published weekly.

The program is very simple - full details can be found here. GOT Flashes Program Details We hope you join in the fun!

Website Tip #5 -  Searching old Yearbooks and Flashes

Did you ever want to reread that article about what could go wrong at the Southern Circuit. You remember it was in Flashes sometime in the middle of 1995. Or you want to find that article about gybing techniques but aren’t sure where to find it? The Class website can answer those kinds of questions for you.

Check out the Blog Post by Bob Shapiro with step-by-step instructions on how to search old yearbooks and Flashes by key words or better yet a boat, sail, hull or fleet number!
