The Governing Board re-elects Meredith Killion as the 5th Executive Committee Member for the 2024-2025 year. Meredith is a member of Fleet 126 - Cedar Point YC in Westport, CT and can be regularly seen on the water at regional, national and world events.
As Meredith has enters her second year as an Executive Committee member, Class President, David Starck remarks, "She has helped the class in so many ways, particularly reviewing & writing documents. She has a wonderful understanding of the class and offers a steady hand."
Meet Meredith Killion:
It started with a call from a high school friend on a Friday night in 1998. Could I race Blue Jays with him in Niantic, CT the next day because his cousin was grounded? It was fine that I didn't know how to sail as he would trim all three sails upwind and downwind. Before the weekend was even finished, I was hooked and the rest is history.
After a successful four year college sailing career, I was introduced to the Lightning by Bill Healy and Nicole Breault in 2006 and reintroduced by Ched Proctor and Jamie Ewing in 2011. I wasn't particularly looking for a class to join, but I feel lucky to have been in the right place and the right time to find the Lightning Class. The Class is full of competition, fun, friendships, local events, travel, and opportunities to learn. I would have never otherwise had the opportunity to travel to Italy, Canada, Ecuador, Finland, and all around the United States. And all with people I now consider family.
